This image shows a new method for scalable manufacture of built-to-order medicine. Researchers can make any type of particle using PRINT® and coat with any material using spray-LbL (layer-by-layer) in a rapid and continuous fashion and customize drug-loaded pills on the nanoscale (imagine splitting your hair into 1000 pieces) – controlling the size, shape, composition, and targeting characteristics of the medicine to tailor therapy to the disease target. This system is of the workhorses of the Hammond lab towards manufacture of new and innovative therapies for cancer.
