"These images show liver cells (hepatocytes) grown in pre-patterned islands on a glass coverslip. The liver cells are stained in red and adjacent supportive cells (fibroblasts) are stained in green. A major goal of my research is towards generating a renewable and expandable source of human hepatocytes grown in culture. A renewable source of human hepatocytes would greatly aid efforts towards in regenerative medicine, disease modeling, personalized medicine, and drug screening."
