As part of the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics Science of the Broad Institute we are focused on using Chemical biology approaches to identify small molecules that can mitigate or treat Diabetes. Among that we are interested to identify novel small molecules that induce beta-cell proliferation. Pancreatic beta-cells do not proliferate. We were able to identify compound that are able to induce beta-cells to proliferate opening novel avenues for the treatment of Diabetes. Among the various beta-cell (in Red) some are proliferating as identified by small green nuclei.
