Our work aims to identify optimal combinations of drugs for the treatment of cancer including a combination of a prostate cancer drug called abiraterone and a drug called onvansertib. To better understand how this combination of drugs kills cancer cells, human prostate cancer tumors were grown in mice, treated with these drugs and then examined under a microscope. 

The concept of targeting cell division in tumors is controversial given differential rates of growth between human tumors and cells grown in a dish, however, this image demonstrates that this mechanism of cancer cell killing is achievable in human tumors.
