Triple Tempo: Time-Programmed Micro-Particles for Staggered Drug Release

Triple Tempo: Time-Programmed Micro-Particles for Staggered Drug Release

In this study, we developed the HEMA patch, a hydrogel-encapsulated microparticle array, to deliver combination therapy after a heart attack in a precisely timed manner, offering new avenues for cardiac regeneration. The microparticle array is designed to release different drugs (labeled in purple, blue, and yellow) in combination, and with varied release kinetics, within the pre-patterned microparticle arrays. This image captures three cohesively patterned particles embedded within a hydrogel matrix. Each particle, encapsulating a distinct drug and dye combination, reveals a unique release rate, evident from the particle cap's deformation.
