"This image shows axons from the visual thalamus coursing through the forebrain on their journey up to visual cortex. We took it to examine the course and pattern of axons that transmit visual information from the retina to the cortex. The image is part of project to understand details connections between specific regions of brain and to understand how they can be modified by experience. Findings from these experiments will give us clues as to how the brain stores information and adapts to a changing environment."
