The image shows a section through the striatum of a mouse model of Huntington’s disease, a fatal movement disorder in which the neurons within the striatum die because of a mutation in the gene that encodes the Huntingtin protein. In this image, the mutant Huntington protein is imaged in magenta and can be seen forming a pathological inclusion inside of a neuron’s nucleus. The nuclear transcription factor TAF1 is labeled in green.
